Learning To Love

"Happiness comes more from loving than being loved; and often when our affection seems wounded it is only our vanity bleeding. To love, and to be hurt often, and to love again - this is the brave and happy life."

Scorched

I am fatally seriously against the fiery weather these days.

Even when I'm typing now, I could almost feel beads of perspiration slowly forming on my forehead. How wrong has the weather gone? Certainly quite wrong. And for someone who has quite active sweat glands, it's an agony to get by such weather. Argh.

Lush 99.5

It's 1.35am now and I'm tuning in to Lush 99.5FM.

I've always appreciated the awesome selection of music genres being aired which includes some of my favourites like drum & bass, soul, jazz and funk.

It's absolute indulgence for the whole being.

I love Lush!

TGIF tomorrow!

My timing for the JP Morgan Chase sucks - 40 mins! I guess that's the outcome for not running enough. I've registered for Singapore Bay Run for 10km and registration for Shape Run will commence this Sat! 10km for me too. I really have to catch up with more running which comes with stricter discipline. Argh.

TGIF tomorrow! Hmm, here's some thought-provoking and uplifting extracts for your reading pleasure. Have an awesome weekend. :)

Be Your Own Cheerleader

Complex our mind may be, but it can really only hold one thought at a time. If you're looking for a way to feel better at any given moment, all you have to do is change what you are focusing on. Your brain is a very powerful tool that you own and you should use to your advantage.

When was the last time you were reminiscing about a great time in your life and it made you feel terrible? When was the last time you were thinking about a painful event in your life and it made you feel good? These paradoxes exist because what you focus on is what you get!

With this in mind, the next time you find yourself in a less than desirable situation, be sure to find the positive side of it and focus your attention on that. Not only will you feel better about the situation, but also you will actually be in a better frame of mind to work through it. With this mind-set you will find yourself focusing on the solution rather than rather than the problem.

The best way to control your focus is to ask yourself good questions. Such as "What can I find that is good in this situation?", "What have I learned from this that will make me more successful the next time?", or "How can I make this situation better?" By asking yourself effective questions, you will force your brain to look for and find a solution for what you can do to solve a problem and how you can make a situation better.

On the other hand, if you ask yourself self-defeating questions - such as "Why does this always happen to me?", "Why can't I have that?", "What did I do to deserve this?" and similarly, your brain will look for those exact answers and tell you why bad things happen to you, why you can't have something and why you deserve something bad. Now it's one thing when someone else tells you something like that, but when you tell it to yourself, you are sure to believe it! So be your own best cheerleader.

Variegated post

I sacrificed kickboxing today as I didn't want to over-tire myself for the JP Morgan Chase run tomorrow. Well, I'm wondering if it was just pure slothfulness on my part though. Good luck to myself for the 5.6km run! I hope to make it not longer than 35 mins.

Bangkok trip is firmed up from 26-29 June with Shihui and Cynthia. This is the first time I'm booking the air tickets and hotel online on a separate basis and I realized that it actually cost lesser than having to purchase an air ticket cum hotel package from a travel agency! Interestingly, I'd quite a bit of fun researching on the air tickets and hotels and finally deciding on it. We'll be flying via Jetstar and staying in Baiyoke Suite Hotel - 4D3N for $341. That's quite a reasonable price isn't it? This could have cost easily more than $400 from a travel agency! This is gratifiable. Ha.

Today's Edde's birthday and as usual, I wished him Happy Birthday via sms. Edde is this special friend of mine whom I've known for almost 7 years. But peculiarly enough, we only talk just once or twice a year, including the birthday wishes. Bizarre and strong friendship at the same time. I remembered we used to share great thoughts and conversations together for a while, but for some reasons, we had to somehow transform into strangers. Still, I know that we both know this friendship is hard to come by and it will be on-going for many years to come. Happy Birthday dude!

I've got a few catching up sessions with my girlfriends this week. Lunch with June tomorrow. Dinner with Shihui on Friday and dinner with Joey and Evoynne on Saturday.

I've been attempting to post some Youtube videos on my blog but I can't seem to find any videos that enable me to do that. Infuriating.

Drank Barefoot before? It's an Australian beer with a tinge of lemon and lime in it. Absolutely refreshing. And yes, it does makes me a little tipsy now.

Night to all Homo Sapiens.

Sydney Rendezvous

Here's a string of precious photo collections I've gathered to almost relate my Sydney trip!

Grrr.... who says sitting the A380 plane is an experience worth envying?! Haha. To be brutally honest, I don't find it wowing at all. In fact, the seats are kinda narrower than normal planes and they are quite ill-fitting and uncomfortable to even rest let alone sleep. Well, I'll just have to dismiss that the planes are still rather new hence the seats are still not seasoned yet? Hee.

I got to sit at the upper deck! Actually, I don't really feel much difference. :P

Okay, A380 personal screens are much bigger than normal planes. That's about it.

After 7 hrs & 15 mins... I arrived in Sydney!

We resided in BreakFree Apartments@ George Street. While we could only check into our apartment at 1pm, we had to roam around the vicinity...

Met up with Annie the mum-to-be for an hour's catch up session!

Paddy's Market for some cheap souvenir buys

Star City Casino is opened for 24 hours. I won AUD$12 via Jackpot. Hiaks...

Darling Harbour

Boarded Captain Cook's cruise and took these breath-taking pictures during the ride...

They say you must try the seafood and fish & chips in the Sydney Fish Market!

You definitely must also visit Bondi Beach, a really bewitching sight of calm waters, sand and rocks. I felt like I was in Heaven!

To The Rock's Market...

The main intention of this Sydney trip is actually to witness the wedding of Samantha, Dan's cousin. I was honoured to be invited and join them in a wholesome family warmth indulged with lots of fun and laughter.

Dan's cousin call Samantha Tan, a mix of Singaporean and Australian

Wedding held at The Sebel Resort & Spa, somewhere in North Sydney

During the solemnization...

And while the relatives were all busy taking pictures and all, I caught a coupla dazzling sunset glimpses...

I adore the night scenaries of Sydney...

That marked the end of my 5 day short trip in Sydney. But I'm still glad I've managed to capture and visioned appealing moments of things, people, buildings, sceneries and culture which will be embedded deep in my thoughts for a very long time. :)
