Last day of July

Don't you just concur with me that time just simply makes its dash like a rocket?!

Another brand new month is here but the usual routine retains itself. *Heaves helplessly*

Nevertheless, I shall anticipate badly for my block leave in another 41 days. This time just to KL for a short breather with Dan.

The long awaited gathering will be here tomorrow! Yes, the old 'girls' of Dunman Secondary School are going to meet up and bitch. Gosh, can you imagine that was 12 years ago? Hee. This is going to be darn nostalgic and reminiscent.

Drowsiness is filling me up now. Adios.

I'm going to experience my truest life now. Sweet dreams to all humanitarians.

Sunday's randomness...

I tagged along with Dan & his mum to view his uncle's condo at Bayshore Park yesterday. His uncle is staying overseas and needed them to assist him in some administrative matters before the new tenant moves in next month.

Well I must say Bayshore Park is not exactly very impressive as compared to the other Bayshore Condos around that vicinity and it looks somewhat hoary. But the redeeming factor is you get panoramic view from the balcony as you get to oversee East Coast Park.

I've been having some difficulties to look for some decent yet affordable working clothes but now I know where I can go... SUITS AND U! Actually this shop in People's Park Complex has been quite well talked-about already but I didn't have the chance to drop by and see for myself. Here I were there and bought 2 working tops at @29 each.

I know this is really random but I'd bought a Dano brown sleeveless shirt some months back and hasn't wore it yet as I realised it's quite big for me. This is the result of not trying before buying! Argh. It's rather cheap at $20 and if any kind soul is to take a fancy to this, do drop me a note and I can sell at half price!

Dano brown sleeveless shirt

Okay please applaud for my laudable determination for having enrolled in the Standard Chartered HALF MARATHON! 21.1km! Whee this sounds ghastly but I know I'm gonna make it! Yay.

I relish solitary moments like this on a Sunday. :o)

In shape!

After approximately 1 hr & 17 mins of running ordeal, I finally completed my first 10km run for this year! Phew. I think my timing is bad though. No improvement from last year... had aimed to complete in like 1 hr & 10 mins but after crossing the 5km mark, my legs just failed me and my speed was greatly decelerated by then. Yunwei completed in 59 mins and Yiwen in 1 hr & 11 mins... good improvement compared to last year! I guess I'll try harder for the Bay run and GE run in times to come for the next 2 months... :)

32nd month

Dan suggested to dine at Chijmes and we chose Tatsu Sakae Bar. Seriously, it was mediocre standard for me and yet lavishly priced. It costs us $92! I thought I could have enjoyed Waraku more. Ha. Well at least in exchange for an experience to dine in a classy Japanese restaurant?

Happy 32nd month!

A Slice of Life

Thanks to the passing cloud, the air was filtered of its humidity and it was really balmy and cooling for an evening run!

I ran a reasonable 5km with Jan. This should be a fairly sufficient preparation for our 10km Shape run this coming Sunday. The thought of the initial anxiety, motivating crowd, beads of perspiration signifying hard work and millions of endorphins that are going to be produced simply thrills me to bits! Looking forward to it!

On a contrary and more discrepant note, following is an extract on suicide. Yeah, a slice of life for you to consume today. It's enlightening and nourishing. :)

This world can sometimes be hard to live in, and occasionally, the pain becomes so acute and sources of relief so rare, that one may contemplate ending it all.

If you're having such a thought, don't feel that you're weak or foolish. There is nothing wrong or unusual about the way you feel. Things must be going pretty badly if you're contemplating suicide. But if death has become an option for you, then things can't get any worse. From here, you can rise if you want to. No one has ever solved anything by choosing death. In fact, it's the ones who are faced with the very real prospect of death who discover how valuable and rich life can be.

In Stephen Daldry's film "The Hours", actress Julianne Moore plays Laura Brown, a character whose face of a loving, dutiful housewife belies an emotional and romantic emptiness that threatens to engulf her. Unable to live the life she truly wants to live, she is finally driven to the thought of suicide, but decides against it at the eleventh hour. Strangely enough, the option of death gave her the strength to continue living. When she realised that she could always take her life if it got unbearable, suddenly, her life didn't seem so hard. The world of infinite opportunities opened up to her. Fear of life and social expectations no longer gripped her, and she subsequently went on to live the life she always wanted.

In Paulo Coelho's book "Veronika Decides to Die", the protagonist is brought back from the brink of death after she takes a near-fatal dose of sleeping pills. However, the doctor tells her that as a consequence of her action, her heart has been so weakened that it could collapse in a matter of weeks. Faced with the possibility of death like the character of Laura in "The Hours", Veronika experiences a similar epiphany - that death is always possible, for everyone, young or old, happy or depressed.

Death can come to you unexpectedly or you can invite it; either way, it makes life all the more precious and the world all the more beautiful and promising. Suicide is a hasty catapult into the unknown. What you couldn't find here, you can be sure you won't find in death. Life however gives you the opportunity to live it in any way you like. The pain may be unbearable now, but it will not last.

Death comes to us all; the time and place though, is not for us to determine. Till then, choose Life - seize the opportunities that only Life can bring.

Fireworks!

I saw pretty fireworks today! They were really captivating. No I did not arrange to view the fireworks but rather coincidentally caught them when Dan was driving past Esplanade. How charmed we are!

We managed to dig a nice hideout place to chill out... Hang out @ Emily Hill! However, it is better if you can drive there as it is quite out of the way, just like Dempsey Hill. There's this Hangout Hotel and we'd drinks at Wild Oats, which is just beside the hotel. It's a place filled with artistic ambience and that was what appealed to me. I didn't take any photos unfortunately... but I will if I drop by again. :)

Boredom

Back from Batam

Although I reluctantly hauled my over-strained and ached body to work today, I thought it could turn out a lovely day perhaps. Haplessly, I'd to handle a complaint case as early as 8.30am which turns out to give me hell of a headache. I shan't go into details as it has depressed my day sufficiently.

And now, pictures of my Batam trip!

Boarding the ferry

Arrival in Batam and to the cable-ski park

US!

Getting ready to ski...

Off I go....! But I fell into water some 2m away. :P

Holiday Inn Resort

Albeit short getaway weekend, but I really enjoyed myself with the ladies! And we have decided to go cable-skiing more frequently so that we can pick up this cool sport and do better! Ha.
Craving for the next weekend to arrive... I need to seriously RUN! Shape run's in 2 weeks... :)
